Amy's Story

Already dealing with her fiancé having committed suicide, and trying to take care of her mentally ill brother, Amy lost everything, including her job, after he got hold of her keys and took off with her car with her wallet and ID inside. Soon she was homeless. “At age 31, I had hit rock bottom.”

That’s when she found Samaritan House. “You feel so lonely sometimes, experiencing homelessness. I’m tired of being cold. I’m so grateful for the people at the women’s shelter. They gave me a warm place to lay my head.” Amy is determined to get back on her feet. “My number one goal is to take care of my brother. I want us to be back home so bad.”

In addition to safety, shelter, clothing and food, Samaritan House also provides comprehensive services to help women like Amy regain lost hope, reclaim ownership of their lives and integrate back into the community.

We are so thankful for the generosity of our donors. Please support Samaritan House with a monthly or one-time gift to help the growing number of homeless in the Denver area.

May God bless you and shine his love down upon you.
