Next Saturday, October 1, several hundred people from the Great Lakes Bay Region will be joining together to raise awareness and money to help support the search for a cure for those infected with HIV. I will be among those, walking with the Unity of Bay City team, doing what I can to walk, and hopefully help us reach our goal of $50,000 to help support, educate and treat those at risk for this horrible disease.

This Walk, sponsored by Sacred Heart Rehabilitation, is the major fund raising effort for 2016. Proceeds from this effort goes to help the more than 300 clients served by Sacred Heart who are living with HIV. And it is because of efforts like this, and supporters like you, that these people are able to live with HIV. The programs that this walk funds have gone a long way towards making HIV a somewhat more manageable disease rather than the automatic death sentence it was just a few years ago.
