The JOY of Freedom Walk (formerly, the Barefoot Mile) is a walk to raise funds to celebrate the freedom and hope given to at-risk and trafficked children around the world through the work of JOY International, a non-profit organization working globally to fight trafficking and exploitation. The JOY of Freedom Walk includes a one-mile walk and family-friendly activities to engage and educate community members of all ages!
Children are a gift from the Lord!
We have a heart to see child trafficking stopped. This is a world wide crime against the most innocent and vulnerable. The United States is alarmingly high among countries in this market place. The city of Charlotte is one of the highest in our country for trafficking as a hub for travelers.
We want to help protect children from trafficking in the 1st place. Joy International does more than work to stop trafficking, and catch perpetrators. They also provide ways for children recovering to find healing - physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritualy. This is an integral part of helping stop the cycle, and help these children continue on to a thriving life, and live out the purpose they were created for. Joy International also does a lot of work to educate in communities, so parents, schools, churches, and other social services can know how to protect children, and identify potentially dangerous peoples or situations.
