During the week of July 6-14, my older son, Matthew, and I will participate in Capuchin Youth & Family Ministries' 28th annual Capuchin Appalachian Mission. Our group of 50 youths and 25 adults will travel to Harlan, Kentucky to serve those in need in one of the poorest counties of our country. This will include:
Outreach - delivering basic necessities such as clothing, cleaning supplies, and school supplies;
Manual labor - repairing homes for people who do not have the means to do so on their own;
Free summer camp - providing a one-week Vacation Bible School for kids; and
Senior ministry - visiting lonely seniors in a local nursing home.
I'm inviting you to sign on with us as a Companion in Mission. Whereas we give by going, we ask our Companions to go by giving. We request your support by giving attention to the unjust situations faced by poor children and families in our country, and giving a financial gift to provide a child with a week of camp or to repair the leaky roof on the house of homebound person. Your contribution in any amount is deeply appreciated and fully tax-deductible.
We truly appreciate anything you can do to help us help our sisters and brothers in Harlan. Thank you!
