My involvement with Junior Achievement stems from my own kids’ experiences learning about needs versus wants, the difference in goods and services, how businesses work, what skills are needed to have a job, how products move around the world, and so much more.
Hearing them talk about these lessons inspired me to reach out to our local chapter and volunteer in the classroom - which led to me joining the Board of Directors in 2023. In my day-to-day life, I am a real estate agent, helping our friends and neighbors find their dream homes and local business owners discover locations that best suits their commercial needs.
In each session we spend 5 weeks, delving into all things finance in a way that's tailored to the curious minds of our young learners. Student thrive with interactive games, engaging activities, and maybe even some creative challenges along the way. My aim is to make the sometimes overwhelming topic of money management as approachable and enjoyable as possible – think of it as a treasure hunt for financial wisdom.
At Junior Achievement, we believe in “possible.” Each day, we work to help young people discover what’s possible in their lives. We do this by helping them connect what they learn in school with life outside the classroom. We let them know it’s possible to invest in their future, to gain a better understanding of how the world works, and to pursue their dreams. We show them that it’s possible for tomorrow to be a better day.
I am one of hundreds of volunteers that step into the classroom and teach Junior Achievement to our local elementary students. As a board member I believe you need to be involved and a part of the mission to understand the impact JA has on our youth.
JA is set to reach over 5,000 students this year in the Coulee Region and surrounding areas! What if you truly help change their future? What if you start today?
