Thank you so much for your interest in my FUNraising 4 JA page. You can help make a difference in the lives of the children reached by Junior Achievement programs through your donation. 23% of children in Oklahoma do not have a working adult in the home. JA volunteers in the classroom often fill the need of a mentor and role model to give students hope for their future. A second missing component is relevancy. JA programs offer relevance through financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work readiness programs.
I am fortunate enough to have volunteered with JA for several years with nearly all age ranges. I love using my degrees of business and mass comm to help students connect what they're learning in school with the business world. (Did I go off script and do an ad hoc lesson on supply and demand curves in one of my high school classes once? Yes...yes, I did.) . This stuff is important to understand not just for our future workforce but for our citizens as a whole. A basic understanding of how our economy works is a good think.
