Running to Help One Beautiful Mind at a Time

Welcome

To anyone whom I may not directly know, my name is Tracy and I am working to raise money and awareness for Children's Hospital's mental health services while preparing to run the 40th annual Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota. This opportunity is important to me for so many reasons. My family whom I'm very close to has been in direct contact with Children's Hospital, receiving fantastic care for my amazing Goddaughter, it is allowing me to continue providing education and outreach for mental health services for children, all while participating in an activity that keeps my body, mind, and spirit healthy.

As a family therapist who works with children and adolescents, mental health is an area of care that is often underutilized. When it comes to children, most emotional challenges they are experiencing are often displayed through their behaviors. For those who are not aware of this, these behaviors can often be misinterpreted simply as misbehavior/defiance. Children's offers a myriad of psychological services including assessments and medication management for more intensive behavioral health concerns.

In addition to having the opportunity to raise money for a cause that is so important to me, Grandma's Marathon also has a significant place in my heart. In 2014 I ran my first marathon, simply as way to stay focused on leading a healthy lifestyle. The race inspired my uncle; together we overcame personal injuries, and finished Grandma's Marathon in 2015. This year, my cousin will also be joining us during the crazy adventure of running 26.2 miles along Lake Superior. Grandma's Marathon is positively impacting my family one person at a time, and I love that being active is becoming part of our traditions. Running is truly one of the most valuable things in my life; it keeps my body physically healthy, allows me maintain clarity and peace during the daily stressors, and has even helped foster some of the most important relationships in my life.

On behalf of the patients, families, Children's Hospital, and myself any donation you can contribute to this cause is greatly appreciated
