If there is one thing I've learned from working with children, it is that they are the ultimate improv-masters! Kids know how to say "yes" with a capital Y-E-S! They will take a 2 minute activity and turn it into a 20 minute conversation about zebras, lettuce, and yes, poop. Kids want adults to be "ALL IN". They want us to jump on board and say, "Yes-siree Mr. blah blah pants!"
I want to honor the very real fears children face. And I want to do it with a child's attitude!
That's why I'm saying YES to a very big, scary, adulty-monster... 26.2 miles.
Children face their fears on a daily basis. Comfort can be found in a loved one's arms, in the kind words of a friend, or through the strength and support of the community. Do not feel obligated to donate but whether or not you do, please take a minute to think of (and share via comment) the name or story of a child that struggles with illness. I would love to add that child's name to my race jersey and to run in his/her honor.
