We are honored to host gifted presenters Barbara Masley and John Schumacher as they present and discuss different ways to buildup literacy campaigns in your school communities.  Participants will alternate between the two workshops and recieve their placement assignments at registration.

Book Talking For All

Book talking utilizes reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.  This interactive session focuses on the value of having students learn about books from one another and leads to individuals developing a taste for books they love to read.   Participants will receive tips for how to get started and grow a book talking culture in their classroom and school.  Book talking increases our chances of having our students become lifelong readers.  Participants will practice a simulated book talking experience during this workshop.

This workshop will be led by Barbara Masley.

Mr. Schu Talks About Books

Join in a conversation with Mr. Schu as he shares the best new titles for K-6 readers of all shapes and sizes: emergent, transitional, fluent AND especially for those who don’t know they are readers yet. In typical Mr. Schu fashion, he will share book trailers, websites, activities, and interviews you can easily incorporate into lessons and book talks to get everyone on your campus hurrying to your bookshelves to find the perfect book.

This workshop will be led by John Schumacher.
