Welcome to the Junior Achievement of Arkansas 40.1K for Financial Fitness. I’m so excited that this challenge can use any kind of activity and turn it into the distances that will be used to determine a winner. People ask me all the time, “what’s the best exercise?” My response is always, “the one you will do.” If you choose an activity that you really don’t like, you won’t stick with it. Find something you enjoy like walking, tennis, bike riding, Zumba class, swimming . . . the possibilities are endless. Branch out and try something new from time to time. But always have your old reliable to depend on. Let’s do this!!
Tips & Inspiraton to get started:
- If you’re starting on a new fitness journey, be kind to yourself. Start where you are and work up from there. If all you can do right now is walk to the end of your driveway, then that’s your starting point. Do that for a couple of days, then add a bit to it. You CAN do this!
- You are getting ready to start a new fitness challenge. No matter where you are in your own fitness journey, it can be daunting to start something new. I read this somewhere, not sure who said it, but I like it: “Make the decision, then do something - no matter how small - toward accomplishing what you want.” You are not running a 40.1K in one day. Make your decision to do it and then go about doing something every day. You’ll be glad you did.
- How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Are you ready for this 40.1K challenge? Prepare yourself to do this just like eating an elephant . . . one bit at a time.
