Our Why

Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South began teaching practical young people real-world skills in 1955. We are the community's oldest organization dedicated to giving young people the practical knowledge and skills they need to plan for their future and make smart choices.

JA's programs focus on the areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. In Memphis & the Mid-South this year, we are estimated to serve 40,000 students across our 71-county region. Our programs are taught by volunteers from all walks of life, including: business people, college students, parents and retirees. These dedicated individuals are the backbone of our organization.
