Meet Dany, 9-year-old boy who’s always smiling, even though he can’t talk and has autism. He loves giving big hugs and exploring new things.

But sometimes, Dany gets frustrated because he can’t say what he wants. His autism makes it hard for him to express himself, and when he gets frustrated, it’s really tough time. We worry a lot about his safety, especially that he tends to wanders off. 

That’s why we’re beyond thrilled that Dany has been accepted to get a service dog. This dog will be like his best buddy, helping him feel calm when he’s upset, keeping him safe, and even helping him communicate better.

Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon.
