BB’s Story

Hey Everyone!
thanks for visiting BB's page and reading a little bit about him.

BB is now 14 years old and about to start High School! I know, I can't believe it. When BB was around 4 years old he was diagnosed with Autism and placed in a special education class within the Baltimore county public school system but I (his mom) wanted more for him. This is when I found the Autism Program in another county and moved there to make sure he had the best opportunities available to him. The Autism Program and all of his teachers and aides have all been so amazing in this program and I could not have been more appreciative of the teachers we have met. We miss so many of his teachers but look forward to the future.

in May of 2023 BB had his first seizure. When he had his first seizure, unfortunately, at the same time he was eating dinner and so I thought that he choked on his food. His second seizure did not occur until October of 2023 and then another again later on in the month. Since then BB has been having seizures around 2 to 3 times a month. We are working with his neurologist to try and find the right seizure medication but for now we are still unsure.

this is when a family member suggested a seizure response/service dog as it is very stressful to keep an eye on BB every minute of every day. We love dogs and know that a service dog would help BB and our family immensely. This is where we have partnerned with 4 paws for ability to hopefully match us with a wonderful service pup!

This is where we ask all of you, family, friends, and everyone inbetween if you could please share, donate, get the word out to help us reach our goal our family would forever appreciate all of your help. Thank you!

Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon. We hope that we can receive assistance from our beloved family and friends to help make our service dog dream a reality.
