Lending a Paw. Changing a life.

Bryson's Story

At 5 years old, Bryson brought home his service dog Curtiss.  They grew together, learned together, and Curtiss even saved Brysons life on several occassions.  Curtiss was trained to know Bryson.  To pick up on his behaviors and to know when he was needed.  And he did.  And he was perfect at it.  They were the perfect match.  Best friends.  For seven incredible years, Curtiss walked by Brysons side.  But suddenly, and unexpectedly, Curtiss passed away.  He was here and doing just fine.  And the next day, he was just gone.  And our family was devestated.  But Bryson, he was simply broken.  For the last month, Bryson has mourned Curtiss' loss and has been struggling to cope with the grief without his best friend by his side.  And not a day has gone by that Bryson has not cried for Curtiss.  It has been gut-wrenching to watch our boy suffer.

Recently, Bryson has been talking about bringing home another dog.  He has talked many times about being lonley and needing help from another companion.  So while this is so soon and close to the passing of Curtiss, we knew it was important to get the process started.  The fundraising and waiting can take over a year.  So while this does seem soon, it can't come soon enough.

With your help, you will be a part of helping us to bring home another companion for Bryson.  You will be giving Bryson back the gift of independence and confidence.  You will help us help our boy.  And you will help to fill that hole in his heart.  Please consider supporting Brysons journey to bringing home a new best friend.  Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.  We pray God will bless you ten-fold.

Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon. We hope that we can receive assistance from our beloved family and friends to help make our service dog dream a reality.
