Help support our journey in Delaney receiving a service dog.
Paws 4 Delaney
Delaney was diagnosed with epilepsy in November 2019 when she was just 2 years old. Over the last 5 years we have battled with seizures through multiple surgeries, medications, therapy, doctors appointments, countless scans, and more.
In 2020, Delaney spent 57 days in the PICU at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando. From April 2020 to November 2021, she had three seperate brain surgeries. She has spent thousands of hours in therapy working to regain skills she had lost due to her seizures and surgeries. Delaney has come a long way in her 7 years of life but her story still has a lot left unwritten.
The next step of our journey is to bring home a service dog to help benefit our family and Delaney's health. This dog will be trained to alert us when Delaney has a seizure, help with behavior disruptions, and mobility. We are so grateful to be on this journey and to be able to share our story with all of you! Thank you for your love and support whether that be through donation or sharing. We truly appreciate you!
Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon. We hope that we can receive assistance from our beloved family and friends to help make our service dog dream a reality.
