Harper is a sweet, strong, and resilient 3-year-old who loves to laugh, play, and explore the world around her. At just one year old, she was diagnosed with epilepsy due to a rare GABBR1 gene mutation, which causes frequent and unpredictable seizures. Harper experiences both tonic-clonic and focal seizures, some of which have led to life-threatening emergencies requiring CPR.

To help keep Harper safe and give her more independence, we are fundraising for a seizure alert service dog. This specially trained dog will be able to detect seizures before they happen, provide comfort, and even get help when needed. This would be a life-changing addition to Harper’s care and daily life.

Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon. We hope that we can receive assistance from our beloved family and friends to help make our service dog dream a reality.
