Hi Friends! Ali here!!! Exciting news!! I’m raising funds to get a service dog!! A service dog will help me live a more safe, independent, and happy life as I prepare to go to college in two years. 

As most of you know I have Muscular Dystrophy, which can limit me physically. I have to start the fundraising now and reach my goal of $20,000 before I can actively start the process, which typically takes up to two years. As I get ready to move away from home for college and living more independently, I know I’ll need extra support to make the most of this new chapter. Being away from my family and especially my twin sister this will give me the independence I’ve always wanted, but it also means I’ll need to be able to do things safely on my own and cope with the emotional and physical challenges that might come my way. I truly believe having a service dog as my new best friend will help me live happily and confidently in college. A service dog will be there for me every step of the way helping with balance, walking up stairs, and assisting with anything I need to stay safe and active. Training a service dog to meet our child’s requirements can be very costly. On average it costs between $40,000-60,000 to raise, train, and place a service dog at 4 Paws for Ability. While 4 Paws for Ability fundraises to help cover a significant portion of this cost, families are tasked with raising $20,000 of that amount or $23,000 if receiving a poodle, doodle or papillon. We hope that we can receive assistance from our beloved family and friends to help make our service dog dream a reality.
