At the end of October, I will be running a 5k (or possibly much more!) in support of two organizations: CAIR Coalition and UndocuBlack Network. 

Here are the important things to know:

• This run will support:
  • Black undocumented families
  • Immigrant families with family members in detention facing deportation, both children and adults 
  • Policy change to overturn these unjust laws
     
• I will run one more mile for every $100 dollars I raise

• Any contribution will have an impact

Why I Am Running: 

As many of you know, I have been working with CAIR Coalition for the past two years, fighting to stop deportations of detained children and adults. This run is an amazing partnership between CAIR and UndocuBlack Network, two organizations working to prevent and stop the unjust and racist immigration policies in the U.S. 

Although Black immigrants comprise just 5.4% of the undocumented population in the United States, Black immigrants make up more than 20% of people in detention facing deportation on criminal grounds. As we all find ways to support the Black Lives Matter movement, I want to highlight the work of UndocuBlack: an organization that pushes back against these unjust policies that result in the over-policing of Black immigrants and works to create support networks among undocumented Black communities.

From my own interactions with folks in and out of detention, I know that both CAIR and UndocuBlack work with immigrant communities who are in need of support more than ever right now.
