Lisa's Fundraising Page: 5K for Immigrant Justice

I will be running a 5k on 10/31 to fundraise for the Capital Area Immigrants' Rights (CAIR) Coalition and UndocuBlack! I will be matching all donations up to $100.

If you support me, not only will you get to celebrate spooky szn and help get me back on my running game, but you will more importantly get to support these amazing organizations. More information on their work is below.

CAIR Coalition is partnering with UndocuBlack Network this month for a Halloween 5K for Justice! Anti-Blackness has fundamentally shaped the U.S. immigration system from the very beginning. The disproportionate policing of low-income Black and Brown communities has doubly detrimental effects on Black immigrants, who are often detained and subject to deportation after interactions with local law enforcement. Did you know that only 5.4% of non-citizens are Black, but more than 20% of people in detention facing deportation on criminal grounds are Black

CAIR Coalition and UndocuBlack Network are actively working for immigrants' rights in and out of detention. UndocuBlack Network works outside of detention, pushing back against the policies that result in over-policing and creating networks of support among Undocumented Black communities. CAIR Coalition works in detention, providing legal & social services to adults and children in ICE/ORR custody and pushing for sweeping policy change.
