Hi Friends!
CAIR Coalition is partnering with UndocuBlack Network this month for our second Halloween 5K for Justice! Anti-Blackness has fundamentally shaped the U.S. immigration system from the very beginning, as we have been reminded all too clearly by the recent deplorable treatment of Haitian asylum seekers at the United States' southern border. The disproportionate policing of low-income Black and Brown communities has doubly detrimental effects on Black immigrants, who are often detained and subject to deportation after interactions with local law enforcement.
CAIR Coalition and UndocuBlack Network are actively fighting for the rights of our immigrant neighbors both in and out of detention. UndocuBlack Network works outside of detention, pushing back against the policies that result in over-policing and creating networks of support among undocumented Black communities. CAIR Coalition works with immigrants in detention, providing legal and social services to adults and children in ICE/ORR custody, and pushing for sweeping policy change.
Please consider donating and/or signing up for #5kforJustice! Thank you.
