This team is formed to continue honoring the legacy and life of our son, Keshawn “Champ” Vaughn {1-18-2010 to 8-28-2019}. We encourage you to join our team or create your own. We need your help as we continue to raise autism awareness, provide special education advocacy and community events for those in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. KESHAWN, there will never come a day, hour, minutes, or second that we stop loving or thinking about our son. Grief is a funny thing... You are mourning a loss... But at the same time if you are brave... You will also find the treasures that are hidden within... Keshawn was certainly one of our most beloved treasures. Keshawn was diagnosed with autism at the age of two. I would often jokingly say, “God wants me to experience EVERYTHING about autism to help others!” Hear me good, I felt we were on the autism fast track because I have seen it all with Keshawn in our 7 years living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We tried so many biomedical treatments to help him live a more normal life. However, NOTHING worked.? Clearly, God was working his plan. We didn’t see ANY progress until I unenrolled Keshawn from public school and sent him to the Wayman Center in Plano, TX. Keshawn acquired so many skills during his time there because of the excellent ABA therapy services provided. His progress was steady and moving upward until age 8.5 when Keshawn was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer that begins in the cells that form bones. As Keshawn’s parents, we are forever grateful that we have an unwavering faith in God. It has been our faith and God’s grace that has sustained us. When we are at our weakest, Your strength is strongest. We pour out our grief to You And praise You that on one glorious day, When all suffering is extinguished and love has conquered all, We shall walk together and be reunited with our son again.??
