Help me help my community. Help me make a difference!
There is no known cause or cure for autism. It is the fastest-growing developmental disorder, and according to the Center for Disease Control, 1 in 68 children in the United States have autism. Autism usually appears in early childhood, before the age of 3. Though symptoms and severity vary, autism affects a child's ability to communicate and interact with others. Intensive, early treatment can make a big difference in the lives of many children with autism and enable them to achieve independence later in life. Currently, 83% of adults with autism are unemployed which is a startling statistic! That is why I am asking for your support. Monies raised will provide much-needed resources to our community-based programs, services, and schools.
The Dan Marino Foundation WalkAbout Autism & Expo, brought to you by Walgreens, will be held Saturday January 23, 2016 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida. This is a great opportunity for us to work together and make a difference for children, teens, and adults living with autism. Proceeds raised through this effort will support local South Florida organizations, including hundreds of participating local schools as well as The Dan Marino Foundation. What is really important to me is that all money raised here, stays here in South Florida!
