Please help the Rugby team get to the Tournament in Las Vegas
With almost 40 years of history at Millersville, The Millersville Men's Rugby team is looking to do something it's never done before. Compete in the highest level of 7's rugby play at a national tournament. The Las Vegas Invitational is the premiere 7's rugby tournament in the United States for professionals, men's clubs, women's clubs, college sides, and high school sides alike . With the Summer Olympics right around the corner, and 7's rugby being reintroduced as an Olympic Sport, what better a way to build excitement for both the men's rugby club and Millersville University than to send a team to the national stage and show what we've got!? The team has been ranked 26th in the nation in the past and believes that this year it has it's strongest team to date ready to compete!
The tournament would open up numerous opportunities for the club in terms of furthering the rugby program such as exposure for recruitment, development of skills, and invitations to other tournaments including the CRC's (Collegiate Rugby Championship) held in Philadelphia in May. National exposure like this not only benefits us, but also the University. We firmly believe when a collegiate team has success in athletics on a national level it can do tremendous things for enrollment numbers.
This is the most ambitious project the club has ever attempted by a long shot and we really believe it can jump-start our path to being a house-hold name for rugby in the US. We cannot do it alone though! That's why we need you! Parents, Friends, Family, Faculty, Alumni, and rugby enthusiasts! Help us meet our budget and build a program that betters our men, our university, and our community!
