Make a Difference - Sign up to Walk Today
Saturday, May 6 Paws on Palafox
Plaza de Luna Park
South End of Palafox Street
May 6, 2017 is the date for this year's 3rd Annual Paws on Palafox 3 K dog walk. As a walker, the course allows you to take in the beauty of Pensacola. The walk starts at 9 a.m.
Be one of the first 200 to register and you will receive a pair of cool sunglasses. Whatever theme you decide to use for the walk, the sun glasses are the perfect accessory.
The event serves as the primary fund raiser of the year for Pensacola Humanr Society's Low Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic. The Clinic has performed over 10,000 surgeries in the year and a half since its opening and finished 2016 with over 6,000 surgeries,
You start out near Pensacola Bay in Plaza de Luna Park at the South end of Palafox Street. The course includes the historic district and our vibrant downtown business district and concludes back in Plaza de Luna Park.
All registrations at $25 include a bandana and tee shirt. Registration for children 6 to 12 is $10 and includes a tee shirt. Those 5 and under are free.
When registering, the first option offered will be to walk individually and help us raise money. The second option will be to walk and join a Pack or Team to raise funds for the Humane Society. These options allow you to create your own fund raising page to share with your family and friends.
The next option will be to walk in the event and this category includes a tee shirt and bandana for the $25 registration fee. Folks that register to walk can still help the Humane Society raise funds by asking people to donate online, but your effort will not be tracked and reported after the event.
This year's event is again presented by MainStay Financial Group and through their generousity we have added a number of things to this year's event for your enjoyment. This includes a band both prior to the walk and after.
This event is truly the most dog friendly event in the community because we host the event with your dog in mind. The walk is led by a LEAD car or PACE car provided by Bob Tyler Toyota, and the course includes water and treat stations for all participants, you and your animal(s).
The Pen Air Federal Credit Union Selfie station is complete with dog costumes to increase your chance of getting that adorable pet photo during the event. Photos are posted immediately after the event sharing the "good times" had by all.
American Legion Post 240 has joined the team and is sponsoring this year's Paws on Palafox event. The organization has issued a "Challenge" to all veterans. Form a Pack to raise funds for the Humane Society and American Legion Post 240 will match their fund raising results up to $250 per pack/team. To qualify, the Pack must consist of at least four veterans. Contact Jeff by phone at 850-898-3384 or firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your participation in this program.
The first of two packet pick-up events are scheduled for Tuesday, May 2 at Old Hickory Whiskey Bar from 5 - 8 p.m. Plan to stay and have one of the debut Pensacola Humane Society Special Drinks.
We are working out the details so that you are greeted at the finish line with some special doggie treats.
