Last year was the first that the Pensacola Humane Society hosted the annual Paws on Palafox dog walk. The event generated over $25,000 to rank as one of our top fund raisers of the year. We had 564 walkers.
The previous year, Blab TV conducted the event, with the proceeds going to the Humane Society. There willingness to turn the event over to our organization has positioned the Humane Society to build a major event moving forward.
This year promises to be even better. The course will remain the same as last year and begins at the Southern-most point on South Palafox in the Plaza de Luna Park near the water and routes participants through historic downtown Pensacola.
Bob Tyler Toyota has provided the LEAD or PACE CAR to lead all walkers through the course. The 3 K (1.5 mile) is complete with water and treat stations for the dogs. The course also features an opportunity for you to outfit your dog(s) with various costumes at the Selfie Station compliments of Pen Air Federal Credit Union. Pictures are posted on facebook promptly after the race. Expect to receive pet treats at the finish line.
One addition this year is a shorter ½ mile course. The shorter course was added to accommodate our smaller dogs and walkers wanting a shorter course.
As a sponsor, your business will benefit from the publicity and interest in the Paws on Palafox event generates. The goal this year is to attract 1,000 walkers and their companions. This will only happen if everyone reaches out to their friends and families and asks them to join them this year. The event features a local band, but is focused on serving the dogs that attend.
Please take a moment to look over our sponsorship information. Your participation will advance the cause of serving the needs of homeless animals in our community. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me (850-898-3384) or a member of our team.
