2017 Annual Campaign - For a better us.

The YMCA Adirondack Center is committed to welcoming all members of our community regardless of race, religion, lifestyle or income.  No one is turned away from our Y due to an inability to pay.

This year's Annual Campaign goal is $100,000.  100% of every donation made will remain local and support free programming and scholarship assistance for our neighbors in need.

In order to continue creating positive change in our community, we need your help.  Be a Superhero!!  Join us in building a stronger community where we can all learn, grow, and thrive. GIVE for a better us.

Sincerely,

YMCA Adirondack Center Staff

The History of the Center

In June, 2016 the Himoff Family donated a building in Brant Lake, which was formerly Suzie Q’s Restaurant, to the YMCA to serve the local community as well as the Adirondacks regionally. The renamed YMCA Adirondack Center is a year-round multigenerational facility. The goal of the Center is to partner with other service related organizations to increase capacity and serve the unmet needs of all ages.

A summer literacy program (known as No More Learning Gap) for children entering 1st and 2nd grades was launched in the summer of 2016. NMLG focuses on preventing the regression of reading skills during the summer by providing academics, camp activities and a field trip each week. This was made possible through the generosity of the Himoff and Powers Families. The Y-Achievers program launched in September, 2016 and was supported by a significant lead gift from Stewart’s Shops and the Dake Family. Its focus is to support middle school students during and after school hours in the areas of academics, character and career development, and enrichment activities.

Other programs such as parent/child play gatherings, movie nights and Senior Lunch & Learns are offered to members of the community. These activities provide opportunities to engage in healthy living and socialization in a group setting.

Legacy Club

In addition to our Annual Campaign, the YMCA's endowment is a major support for the Glens Falls YMCA's financial assistance and scholarship programs. Legacy gifts made to the Y help us sustain financial assistance for future generations. If you are interested in more information about the YMCA's Legacy Club and endowment, please contact Lynelle Mykins at the Y, (518) 793-3878.

The YMCA Adirondack Center is a YEAR-ROUND multi-generational program center.  Program and services will be offered for all ages but our focus is to clear away barriers for youth to be successful, to eliminate generational poverty and to serve the unmet needs of all ages.  Partnerships with service related organizations will be pivotal to further serve the needs of the Adirondack communities.
