Celebrating your support of the children and families at Nemours

Associate Donor Spotlight

John Rendle
Director, Ancillary Services

In July, John celebrated 20 years with Nemours. He has given to It’s All About the Kids since its inception.

Q: Why do you give to Nemours?
JR: I love what we do. It is an honor to be able to have the opportunity to provide care to these kids who have no choice in being here. The patients and their parents put my life in perspective every day. If I think I am having a bad day, I just have to walk around and see what is going on... Patients suffering or parents struggling because their child is suffering. This helps me to realize that my day is not so bad. We have so many great wins here as well. Many kids walk out of here who we thought might not make it. We have a great team.

I have given since the fund started but increased my giving, based on an ask. Many years ago when I was still at AI, the executive team was challenged to have meetings with the leadership at the director and manager level and ask us to give at a certain level. The executive whose list my name landed on was Bill Britton. If you don’t know Bill he is one of the smartest, nicest and humblest men I have ever met. Bill was not comfortable with this task but being a good soldier he pressed on. He asked and I said yes.

I give knowing that the little bit of money I give, is helping in some way. I see the results of the care we provide and we do great things. We help them get better so they can hold onto their childhood.

Q: Why should others give to Nemours?
JR: They have to figure that out for themselves, but if they stop and think, it should be an easy answer. They play a part in what we do no matter what their position is. They help provide care to children and support to their family. We all should want to support that mission.
