What is a home run derby?
A home run derby is a competition between people to see who can hit the most home runs.

Why are you doing a home run derby?
The Pujols Family Foundation is partnered together with Cardinals Care to bring St. Louis a home run derby because we know how much St. Louis LOVES baseball. And why not make home runs make a difference for those who need it?

How can I participate?
You can participate by registering online; click here to register. Registration is $50 per person, which also gets you an event t-shirt and one (1) minute in the batters box.

How old do I have to be?
Anyone from age 9-99 can participate. (Your age group will be determined by your age on the day of the qualifier you participate in. You will remain in that age group if you make to the finals.)

Do I have to hit a home run 400 feet?
No way! Depending on your age the batters box will be the following distance from the fence:

Age:              Distance:
9u - 10u         130 ft
11u - 12u       160 ft
13u - 14u       200 ft
15u - 17u       250 ft
18 - 39           275 ft
40+                275 ft

Down Syndrome Division:
The Down Syndrome Division is scored by longest hit. You will hit from home plate for your alotted time, then at the end of your time we will measure the longest hit you made. That is your score. The longest hit in every age group gets to go to the finals.

Age groups are broken down into:
9-12
13-17
18+

When registering you can pick whether you would like to hit with baseballs or softballs. However, all age divisions will hit together regardless of the ball you hit.

What if there is a tie?
It will be based on divison. Please see the Rules & Regulations page for more information.

What if there is a tie, in the tie breaker?
There will be a hit-out if needed if the original tie breaker does not find a winner.

Do I have to be from St. Louis to participate?
Not at all - we welcome anyone from anywhere to come participate in the Home Run Derby!

Where does my money go?
Every dollar raised goes back to the St. Louis community through the Pujols Family Foundation & Cardinals Care.

What do I get with my money?
You get an opportunity to hit home runs & make them count! See Fundraising Information page for more details on prizes & time in the batters box.

Can I register multiple people?
You can, however you will need email addresses for each person you are registering.

What if I don’t hit enough home runs during the qualifier?
Keep swinging! We will be back next year and you can try again!

Can I hit again?
You cannot re-hit during the same qualifier. HOWEVER, you can re-fundraise the money that will get you the desired time in the batters box, attend a different qualifier, and try again. (Prizes are not repeatable, only time in the batters box.)

Where are the qualifiers?
There are 2 qualifiers across the region. Please go to the Qualifier Information page to find more details on each location.

What do I do when I get to the qualifier?
1. Check In.
2. Turn in any cash or checks you may have collected.
3. Redeem prizes.
4. Wait for your turn in the batters box.

Who gets to go to Busch Stadium?
The highest home run hitter from each age group, at every qualifier will be in invited to come hit at Busch. (See Finals Information page for more details.)

How can I become a sponsor?
See Sponsor Page for more information. If interested in becoming a sponsor please email info@stlhomerunderby.com or call (314) 878-2105 for more information.

Can I donate directly to the cause or do I have to donate to a participant?
Absolutely – go to our donate page and just choose the amount you would like to give and complete your payment.

What if someone wants to donate to my fundraiser, but cannot donate online?
This is a great reason to request a Giving Packet! This is a great fundraising tool to help tell others about what you are participating in, a place to collect donations that are checks or cash, and a fun way to keep up with the different levels you are achieving.

What if I don't hit my fundraising goal?
That's okay - we are so proud of you & are thankful for what you could do to help make your home runs count in your community!
