Help Carry the Burden
This year I’m participating in the First Choice Pregnancy Services March for Life, and I would be grateful for your support in this important effort to bring hope, practical support, and real options to women during one of the most critical moments of their lives.
I have to admit, I’ve never been very fond of fundraising campaigns that ask people to support someone else’s cause or passion. We all have the things we care deeply about, and I’ve always believed people should give where their own hearts lead them.
In fact, the last time I remember asking people for support on behalf of an organization was when I was selling Girl Scout cookies at 12 years old—and at least then the recipient got cookies in return.
But this is different.
I believe so firmly in the sanctity of life that I am willing to step outside my comfort zone and ask—unashamedly—on behalf of those who have no voice, and on behalf of women who are facing difficult and often overwhelming circumstances and simply need information, support, and compassionate care.
Every day at First Choice, women come through the doors who feel like they have no real choice.
So many feel alone.
Some feel too young.
Many worry they cannot afford a baby.
Some don’t know how they could raise a child without the support of another.
Some believe pregnancy will prevent them from finishing school or building their future.
And some are living in fear because they are being coerced into making a choice they do not want to make.
First Choice exists to come alongside these women at the moment they feel most overwhelmed by providing free pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, abortion pill reversal, mentoring, practical support, diapers, education, and referrals to organizations that can help with free or low-cost prenatal care and housing—all so women know they are not alone and that they truly have options.
But many women never make it to our center.
That is why First Choice is working toward launching a mobile medical unit, so we can go meet women where they arein our community. This mobile unit will bring pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and compassionate care directly into neighborhoods where women may not otherwise seek help.
Above the initial cost of the Mobile Unit, it will cost approximately $250,000 per year to staff and operate the mobile medical unit, covering the nurse, advocate, staff support, fuel, insurance, and medical supplies needed to serve women five days a week.
And here is the heart of this mission:
Our goal is simple: to reach her with compassion, support, and real options before the abortion clinic does.
When a woman discovers she has support, resources, and people who care about her, everything can change.
Your support could be the very reason a woman pauses long enough to hear, perhaps for the first time, that she is not alone and that both she and her baby matter.
Your gift helps ensure that when a woman feels like she has no choice, someone from First Choice is there to walk beside her, reminding her that she is cared for and that her burdens can be shared and lightened.”
Please consider donating to my March for Life page and helping First Choice continue this life-changing work.
Together we can bring hope, support, and real choices to women in our community.
Please Stand with me—and with the women First Choice serves.
Respectfully,
Roxanne Fegert
