Jasmine's Story

When Jasmine’s relationship ended, she found herself homeless and living in a hotel with her two children. She had previously worked as a well-paid medical office receptionist but lost that job due to being unreliable because of lack of housing, transportation, and childcare.

Working as a restaurant hostess to survive, she connected with Haven House's street outreach team, who helped her get her old job back. Together, they tackled her debt, improved her credit, and secured a safe, stable apartment - with the team covering the move-in expenses and furniture provided through The Green Chair Project.

Today, Jasmine is thriving—fully employed, covering all expenses, and able to invest in speech therapy for her son.

Sofia & Faith's Story

Fourteen-year-old Sofia was referred to Haven House's Juvenile Diversion Team by her school. She knew she had made some bad friendship choices and wanted to make a change.

With her mom’s support, Sofia worked hard through the program’s curriculum, learning skills to build better relationships and make healthier choices.

After Sofia graduated from the program, her 13-year-old sister, Faith, turned to Haven House for help. Faith was dealing with extreme anxiety that often kept her from going to school or doing well when she did attend.

Haven House helped Faith and her mom connect with a mental health provider, and Faith began taking medication to manage her anxiety.

Her case manager also worked with Faith’s school counselor and teachers to make sure they understood how to support her when she felt overwhelmed. This helped Faith feel more comfortable asking for help when she needed it.

From our staff member: “I loved working with this family. The family always welcomed me into their home and was grateful for the support they received. I’m so proud of the progress both girls have made and wish them all the best moving forward.”

Caleb & Mia's Story

When 15-year-old Caleb and his 12-year-old sister Mia came to Wrenn House, their family was experiencing homelessness. Their mom was staying in a women’s shelter while working during the day.

At Wrenn, Caleb and Mia had a safe place to stay and support with basic needs, including transportation to school every day. Knowing her children were cared for, their mom could focus on using her support system to make a plan for the future. The family stayed connected with visits several times a week.

After some time at Wrenn, Caleb, Mia, and their mom were able to move into housing with the help of a family friend. With the support of Wrenn House, this family had the stability they needed to take the next step forward—together.
