Thank you for considering a donation and participation in the 2016 Annual Illinois Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ILaaom) walk-a-thon. Our walk is attended regularly by more than 200 people representing thousands of patients in Illinois. It is the capstone fundraising event of our year, and your support is highly valued.
The Illinois Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ILaaom) is Illinois' oldest professional organization representing Licensed Acupuncturists and students, along with Oriental Medical schools and acupuncture-related businesses. It is registered with the State of Illinois as a 501(c)6 non-profit corporation. ILaaom was formed in 1983 (as the Illinois State Acupuncture Association) to be the unifying force for Illinois Acupuncturists to uphold ethical and well-regulated standards of practice and to lobby for legislation to advance the profession.
As Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine become more and more utilized in Illinois and nationally, our organization plays a key role in maintaining professional standards and acting as a key resource to consumers and practitioners. Illinois now has more than 750 licensed acupuncturists who treat countless patients in private offices, schools, and hospitals around the state. Acupuncture is utilized frequently for conditions of astounding diversity. The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture as an appropriate treatment modality for hundreds of conditions and data is regularly emerging supporting acupuncture’s efficacy.
In this context, safeguarding practice to make sure the public has access to the best of this medicine is paramount. Your support helps us in this mission.
