Be the Change You Wish to See in the World.
From Racer, to Director, and Beyond
Greetings to you, and thank you for stopping by my fundraising page for the Junior Achievement Tippy Mud Run. While this race has been a staple event in the community for years, it has personally and undoubtedly been a life-changing experience in my journey.
In 2013, I found myself pursuing endeavors that allowed me to be challenged both mentally and physically. I had often heard of Mud Runs, but had yet to commit to completing one. When the opportunity arose to participate in one literally minutes from my front door, I couldn't say no. Five years and 40+ miles of Mud Runs later, this unconvential means of testing my meddle has become a staple of my life. It has driven me to pursue a passion of pushing others to find their own limits and pursue their own passions. It has led me to develop the Warrior Within program, built to provoke a mental and physical test to all who attend. It allowed me to find a connection with the wilderness and myself that I had yet to find. And I believe it helped me develop a sense of mental toughness necessary to begin my own business endeavor, Human Movement. For these reasons, I am forever greatful for the opportunities given to me by the Tippy Mud Run.
And it is for that reason that in 2016, I offered my assistance, and the assistance of those I knew were passionate for helping out, to the Tippy Mud Run. And in the next year, my passion for helping things become Better, coupled with my knowledge of the world of obstacle course racing, came to fruitition as I became the 2017 Tippy Mud Run Race Director. In that year, the Tippy Mud Run celebrated its largest year yet, with more racers, sponsors, obstacles, and vendors than ever before. It was a sight to behold, and a memory that I will cherish.
But folks....you ain't seen nothing yet. Before the last speck of mud was still being washed off the 2017 racers, the 2018 Tippy Mud Run was already in its infancy. A promise to all those that attended echoed over the fields of Cary Camp. Not only would 2018 be bigger, muddier, and Better than ever before, but a new course would be laid out for the first time in 5 years. With a new course, new obstacles, new vendors, and new experiences, the 2018 Tippy Mud Run may go down in many people's lives as a pivotal point in their past.
As someone who has lived a life seeking out challenge, I implore you....get off the beaten path. Take a trip down the tougher road. “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” (Martin Luther King Jr.). This race may very well be the moment, the challenge, the event, the EXPERIENCE that you need to put you on a different path, find that your current path is the one you need to be on, or just allow you the opportunity to say, "I did it."
So with that being said, the question you have to ask yourself is.....Are you ready to GET YOUR MUD ON?
See you at the Camp.
