Hey everyone! Although I cannot participate in the walk because I will be in St. Louis during the time, I do not want to miss a chance to help support my favorite place on earth. Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp has been such an amazing experience for me since I started volunteering there when I was 16. I am now going on my fourth year and I will be spending 6 weeks there this summer. I cannot imagine where I would be without it: it helped me choose my major, my school, and my outlook on life. I am so grateful for everyone I've met and everyone I have become friends with because of this camp.
This fundraiser will help financially support the camp and camper's families. For those of you who do not know, the camp focuses on promoting independence and a week full of fun with people of differing abilities. There are not many places where everyone can feel completely accepted for who they are and how they identify. I appreciate anything you are able to donate, and I thank you in advance.
There are few places where individuals with developmental disabilities can spend an entire week joyfully focusing on their abilities. For 85 years, Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp has offered one of the largest programs in the U.S. for 600 campers ages 12 and up at our fully accessible 22-acre campsite in the Mt. Hood National Forest. We EMPOWER youth and adults with cognitive, developmental and physical disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, and more through year-round recreational programming.
