Help me raise money for City Year Los Angeles as I run/crawl across the finish line of the LA Marathon on March 24th!
I chose to run for City Year LA because I am an alum of the organization and support its goals and mission. After graduating college, I served in City Year New York during the 2014-2015 school year at I.S. 123 in the South Bronx.
City Year’s purpose is to help close the educational gaps that are persistent in underserved schools and communities by providing academic and social-emotional support for its students. City Year has programs in 29 cities across the U.S. and works with Elementary, Middle, and High School students.
Since its start in 1988, City Year has been a leading AmeriCorps program that has supported over 2 million students nationwide. Schools that partner with City Year experience both higher attendance rates and improved academic achievement.
Working at City Year made me further appreciate the educational opportunities that I was given growing up and recognize just how many issues there are in our school system. I want to continue to support the organization that gave me the opportunity to work with such strong students and helped me become the educator that I am today.
I strongly believe in the power and potential of young people, which is why I continue to teach and coach. Please help me help raise money for an organization that impacts so many students and future teachers across America!
