From now through Valentine’s Day and into early March, our team, UlsterUnited4Vets, will be raising funds for Abolish Veterans Medical Debt (National Veterans Campaign) benefiting RIP Medical Debt. RIP is working to raise enough in donations to purchase and abolish $50 MILLION in unpayable veterans and military medical debt in America.
Wait. What? Vets have medical debt? Yes. Like many, we were shocked;
“What may be surprising is that veteran medical debt even exists. It is almost a common understanding that medical costs for our armed forces and their families, both during and after enlistment, are paid by the government in return for their service to our country. Unfortunately, that’s not the case…”
But RIP is addressing that need. They are working to raise enough in donations to purchase and abolish $50 MILLION in unpayable veterans and military medical debt in America. And we are organizing to help. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by the beginning of March.Your donation to RIP Medical Debt is highly leveraged - on average, $1 will abolish $100 in medical debt.
Our inspiration was a recent New York Times article about two upstate women’s successful efforts to raise funds to help eliminate medical debt in their community. After hearing about RIP’s national effort to eliminate debt for veterans we decided to assist in that campaign. That’s why we are putting our money and muscle into this campaign. Will you join us?
In lieu of Valentines Day gifts we suggest gifting your fav loved ones, friends, etc. with a Valentine donation. Or as we march toward Spring-make a Cabin Fever gift in their name. You, your business, your class, your friends, your family, your posse, etc, can get on board with us through our fundraising page. Or you can donate offline via a check.
To kick off the campaign we have donated $$$ and also created a match. Go to our fundraising page which is filled with information and make a donation here:
If you can think of others who might be interested in making a donation, please forward this email to them. Or contact us.
