I'm running with Farhia!
Farhia is from Embakasi in Nairobi. She loved the unity of her little village, but she didn’t like that it was a heavily polluted area near factories and sewer lines. Farhia comes from a large family of nine where she is the only girl. Her life changed when her father was robbed. They were unable to pay medical bills and, eventually, her parents divorced. Unfortunately, her mother then married a man who was unsupportive and abusive, creating a terrible home environment. Now that Farhia is at Daraja Academy, she is very happy. She hopes to continue her education after Daraja at a university abroad such as Harvard or Oxford. She is interested in becoming a journalist and bringing awareness to human rights issues or maybe a pilot who travels the world. Her advice to girls is, “Believe in yourself and hold onto your spirit.”
