What a day it will be!
I'll be there!
I'm busy preparing and I'm looking forward to returning with so many friends to pack and provide school lunches for more than 500 Haitian kids through 2020!
2019 has been a hard year for Haiti due to political turmoil there. It has been so bad, schools in the capital were closed because the streets were unsafe. Transportation around the country was crippled as gas prices skyrocketed and looters set up roadblocks to rob trucks. Fortunately, our Light and Peace partners were able to deliver packathon meals to Trois Mares and Chapottin, and students were able to stay in school! This time, our kids in the mountains had it better than in other parts of the country.
To keep it going for them, we must raise $56,000 to cover the costs of:
- 123,000 meals for volunteers to pack Nov. 9 and for the Haitian students to enjoy Mondays-Thursdays next year;
- Locally-sourced lunches for Fridays to boost local farms and businesses;
I can't help but tell you another benefit of our event. It's almost like doubling your gift!
Teaneck Packathon for Haiti is one those rare, amazing events where all the volunteers get to experience a fabulous diversity of people with one purpose--to spend their time and energy helping others. Priceless! I can't tell you how encouraging this is for me and strengthening for our community!
You can be part of it. Please join me and Donate Now for the sake of Haiti and Bergen County.
Teaneck Packathon is organized by Future Forward for Haiti, Inc. It is a registered 501c3 non-profit, with no paid employees, so over 95% of your gift will go to help in Haiti. If you prefer to give with a check, please write it to Teaneck Packathon for Haiti and mail to Sue Papera, 604 Rhein Court, New Milford NJ 07646. FutureForwardforHaiti.org.
