My Personal Fundraising Page
For the last four years I have produced the Dipsea Hike for Zero Breast Cancer with the wonderful support of the professional team at ZBC, amazingly dedicated volunteers and the Board of Directors of ZBC. As I will have handed over the reigns of ZBC to my successor to run the 2019 Hike I get to actually be a regular particpant in it.
Please support the ongoing work of Zero Breast Cancer and the vision of a world with zero breast cancer!
In 2015 I accepted the position as the second Executive Director of Zero Breast Cancer as it entered its 20th year. The question I was hired to help the organization answer was 'what next?'.
The problem part 1: breast cancer continues to impact 1 in 8 women in this country. For every breast cancer diagnosis family, friends and co-workers are touched too.
The problem part 2: Breast cancer risks are not clear-cut or sudden; they are complex, they interact and they are embedded in our physical and our social environments. Therefore, risk reduction and prevention efforts must be multi-faceted, incremental and sustained.
- promote breast cancer risk reduction through translation of scientific research and evidence-based recommendations that support health and wellness at key stages of life.
- draw upon the latest research from our scientific partners and others to create innovative, integrated health and wellness materials for youth and teens and their caregivers
Your support will help reach many more people to create awarness of evidence-based, practical steps anyone can take to increase health and wellness and reduce risk of disease. Physical activitiy, healthy eating, avoidance of harmful chemicals and sound medical information can help more youth and teens adopt habits that may reduce their lifelong breast cancer risk. Zero Breast Cancer creates innovative and engaging campaigns that are FREE to educate and inform everyone. Check out examples of infographics here, YouTube videos in English, Spanish and Chinese and posters and brochures here.
