Team Milz Fundraising Page
My name is Anna Milz. I am a mother of 2 children with epilepsy. My son, Jacob, who is 9 years old, and my daughter, Ruth, who is 3.5 years old. As is the case with all families and individuals who are dealing with epilepsy, understanding the impact of epilepsy for our children has been a journey for our family. As we have navigated how to best manage the seizures and understand how this impacts our children and family, we have had many challenges. My best description of epilepsy is a lightening storm. You never know quite when and where it will strike. However, there are so many things that can be done to weather the storm. The support of friends, family and organizations like EFMN have truly helped create a path of light for us and helped us through some difficult times.
When Jacob was 3 years old, we attended our first Shining Star event. He was so excited about the possibility of meeting other kids who “take medicine” too. He (and us), like many others felt very alone prior to this. It has been wonderful to connect with other individuals and families who are making their way through their own journey with epilepsy as well.
We continue to walk for Jacob and Ruth, to help support them as much as we can. We walk for research to help understand epilepsy better. We walk to raise awareness to help others understand epilepsy. Lastly, we also walk to help other families like our own. We hope that we can help other families find the support that they need to weather the storm as well.
We continue to be grateful for the friendship and support provided by EFMN! Thank you for all of your continued support!
