As most of you know our family lost 2 sisters in two months due to Pulmonary Fibrosis. Maria and Tilde are dearly missed. Not a day goes by I do not think of them. Our brother Rufus is a survivor of this disease. He was lucky to receive the gift of a lung transplant. He is in his 5th year and doing good.
Tomorrow I will participate in a 6 day mtb race in Breckenridge, CO. I thought why not create a fundraiser in their honor. The race starts at 9000 ft daily and will go up to 12500 ft. Above 12000 ft your lungs struggle work at 60%. Six days of this is nothing compared to what my siblings had to suffered for years. My goal is to finish all 6 days and have half the courage, will and strength these three have. God bless them and watch over them.
I am proud to lead the way toward a world without pulmonary fibrosis (PF) as part of Team PFF. I hope you will join me as I raise funds to benefit the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF).
Pulmonary fibrosis is a deadly and complex disease that causes progressive scarring in the lungs. PF affects over 200,000 Americans annually and 50,000 people will be diagnosed this year alone.
While there is still significant work to be done, progress in the fight against pulmonary fibrosis is being made. Your generosity allows the PFF to expand essential efforts for the PF community.
