Cruisin' Toward a Cure for PF... Because Breathing Matters

Online Donations

Doug was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in April 2006. He lost his battle with this disease on January 14, 2010—just short of a transplant. Looking to satisfy the desire to raise money for research, as well as raise awareness of this little known disease, we looked to one of Doug’s passions and hobbies: car shows. This desire has blossomed into a passion of our own that has grown into an annual, community event consisting of the car show, 5K run/walk, silent auction, corn hole tournament, food stands, raffle, and more!

He was a wonderful, God-fearing man, who loved his family, friends, and community. He lived in Holland, IN all of his life, was employed locally with Holland Dairies (now Prairie Farms) for 35 years, and was also a 35-yr volunteer fire-fighter and first responder. He was an active member in the Holland United Methodist Church and a member of the gospel singing group "A Joyful Noise".

Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a condition that causes lung tissue to become thickened, stiff, and scarred. The lungs eventually lose their ability to transfer oxygen into the bloodstream, making everyday activities such as breathing and walking extremely difficult. It is a progressive disease, which means it tends to worsen over time. Every individual diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis has a unique experience with the disease and there is no “standard” or expected clinical course.

With no known cure,  the disease is often fatal within three to five years of diagnosis. In the  United States, PF affects more than 200,000 people.

Because of the work of the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF), there is hope for those living with PF. Your donation helps fund crucial research, increase awareness, and sustain vital programs that help people with PF and their families live better lives.

We imagine a world without pulmonary fibrosis. Thank you for helping us lead the way!
