I have personally benefited from this fund. I had a Red Cross notification while I was at SERE and AFAF was able to pay for my plane ticket to see and help aid my mother-in-law in the hospital to a recovery. As a young airman, I was very thankful for the financial aid. These funds would not be available if it weren't for those who donate. These four official charities of the Air Force take care of us from the day we join throughout our retirement years. And then they are there for our surviving spouses. AFAF is one of the few charities that you can be certain of their merit. The money is going directly to people who can prove they need it.
From emergency assistance to educational assistance, to community programs, to helping widowed spouses stay in their home as long as possible, to providing a home for them when they no longer can -- the four charities of the AFAF Campaign provide assistance to us when we need it. I'm fundraising for the AFAF Campaign because they have directly impacted my life while in the Air Force and I know they will contunue to be there for me in the future.
