Marcella’s journey began in May 2023 when she was born prematurely. She had a stable first month, but at just four weeks old, everything changed. She was diagnosed with Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), a devastating condition that led to severe complications. Her tiny body fought through multiple surgeries, time on a ventilator, and a lengthy stay in the NICU. Doctors prepared her family for the worst, but Marcella had other plans—she is a true fighter!

Thanks to the groundbreaking work of her medical team at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, and the unwavering support of her caregivers, Marcella survived against all odds. Through innovative surgical techniques, her team saved what little intestine remained and gave her a second chance at life. After 196 days in the hospital, Marcella finally came home in December 2023.

Today, she continues to make remarkable progress. She is overcoming feeding challenges, growing stronger each day, and inspiring everyone around her. Her medical team calls her their “miracle baby of the year,” and we couldn’t agree more!  Click HERE to read her full story.
