In August 2025, we found out that both of our boys have a rare genetic disease, X-ALD. X-Linked Adrenoleukodystrophy is a rare disease that affects boy’s very long chain fatty acids. Over time this can begin to break down the myelin in their brain leading to deterioration of their brains white matter. This disease also affects their adrenal glands. Currently, Bryce is adrenal insufficient and Theo is not symptomatic. This huge change has happened in our life with new doctor appointments and brain scan monitoring for both boys until they are 15. ALD Connect has tremendously helped our family and we would love to support this great organization!
