Meet our Emcee - Nina Trasoff

Nina Trasoff spent her 20s working as a dancer on Broadway and Los Angeles. In 1976 she made a major switch in careers, becoming a reporter and news anchor at KGUN-TV9 in Tucson. While there, in addition to her reporting duties, she wrote and produced dozens of documentaries, special series, and investigative reports on topics ranging from the problems in the prison system to special needs children to violence against women. In 1983 she became public relations director and public affairs producer at KGUN, where she won numerous national and local awards for her work both on and off air.

In 1985 she left KGUN to develop and direct the news/communications department at the Arizona Health Sciences Center and served as its spokesperson when it became the focus of national and international attention for being the first to use an artificial heart as a bridge to transplant. Ms. Trasoff’s skills as a linguist enabled her to conduct interviews on that subject in Spanish, French and Russian.

In 1988 Ms. Trasoff formed her own company to handle the internal and external communications needs of dozens of clients. She has produced documentaries on the children of war in Nicaragua and news reports on the changing face of Russia after the break-up of the Soviet Union. Although trying to retire, she still works with a few clients.

Ms. Trasoff has served on dozens of nonprofit boards in the past 4 decades and currently is on four advisory boards, including for the UA School of Dance, UA Arthritis Center, UA Department of Psychology, and the UA College of Science. She is the proud mother of two sons and grandmother to 5 boys ranging in age from 7-17.

Who We Are

Alisa's Angels Foundation awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who make their communities better, and support them with mentoring.

Scholarship recipients are supported through our mentoring programs. They are coached in leadership and life skills, and encouraged throughout their educational journey and beyond. Alisa's Angels is dedicated to creating a ripple effect of caring throughout our communities. Inspired by Alisa who was committed to helping others, we support and empower students who are serving others. The youth we select are an inspiration for their selfless giving. A Community, not just a Scholarship.

Scholarship recipients become part of the Alisa’s Angels family, where they are empowered, encouraged and supported.
