Raising Money for ALK Positive Lung Cancer! We can make a difference!
LUNG CANCER is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. 1 in 17 women will be diagnosed with lung cancer. 20% of lung cancer in women presents in non-smokers such as myself. 4% of those will have the ALK mutation which has no known cause and no cure! Please join me in November, which is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, to raise money to help ALKIES like me live longer lives!
December 23rd of 2022 forever changed my life. I heard the words no one ever expects to hear. You have lung cancer. I was hospitalized a few days later and stayed a week with a chest tube connected to my left side. Many tests and scans later, I learned that I have stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer adenocarcinoma which had spread to my brain, bones, liver, adrenal gland and pleural space. A few weeks later I learned I had a mutation, specifically the ALK mutation, which has many excellent treatment options! Finally...a bright light amongst all of this dark news. I started taking Alecensa (an oral medication) on 1/27/23 and have responsed amazingly to treatment! I also had 15 sessions of radiation at MD Anderson Cancer Center to help blast any persister cells in my primary lung tumor. God is good! I have had no evidence of active disease since September of 2023!
I am raising money for ALK Positive this November, which is lung cancer awareness month, to help with research! More research = More life! There is no cure for this type of lung cancer. However, with medical advacements happening in this field, I hope to extend my life and all others living with ALK Positive lung cancer!
Thank you for your help and contribution! Sending love to you all!
