My name is Berntina King and I was adopted by Ken and Connie Sankwich from Bethel, Alaska.
I am a caregiver to my mother, who was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in October of 2013. I've always supported my mom through her cancer journey. Together we've attended many cancer conferences and fundraisers including the Gynecologic Cancer Awareness & Arts of Healing and the Alyeska Climbathon events both organized by Let Every Woman Know Alaska. We've also attended the Ovarian Cancer National Conference put on by Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA).
I'm married to Rex King and we have two spoiled dogs, Koda (10yo Chesepeake Bay Retriever) and Chester (5yo German Wirehaired Pointer mix with Catahoula).
My day job is in the Information Technology world, and I build and maintain the Electronic Health Record at Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation. However, I'm going back to school to pursue a degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
My hobbies include crafting (cross stitching), sewing (quilting, table runners, placemats, and kuspaks), living the subsistence lifestyle (fishing and berry picking), and traveling the world with my favorite people.
