Thank you for giving.

Each year, hundreds of veterans are honored with a ceremony through the Forever a Hero program at Hospice of Health First. Hear from Susan Miller, one of our Volunteer Services Coordinator, and a U.S. Air Force veteran below.

Because of your gifts through Associate Giving, we are able to provide a ceremony, pin and military-folded flag as a final salute to the veteran and keepsake for their family.

Susan Miller, Hospice Volunteer Services Coordinator, and a U.S. Air Force veteran, has led Forever a Hero for more than decade.

“The ceremonies are marked at times by laughs and by tears,” Susan shared. “The only consistency is that each pinning ceremony is ‘totally unique,’ – each special for all involved.

“We are there to listen to their story. And it’s not just the ceremony. Sometimes they will tell us things that their family members later say, ‘I have never heard that story before.’ Your support makes this all possible.”

“Thank you doesn’t even begin to express my gratitude for what you all did for us. I can tell that you all truly are angels helping your patients and their families with this difficult transition for them,” said a hospice family member a after her father’s ceremony.
