For 86 years Agassiz Village has provided opportunities for thousands of kids from under-resourced Massachusetts and Maine communities. These extraordinary kids have experienced loss, trauma, poverty, homelessness, violence and often have mild to moderate learning disabilities. Through our unique summer camp and year-long programming, youth develop and practice critical leadership and life-shaping skills that help them to “prepare for life’s journey.” Our learning program challenges these exceptional kids to discover interests, uncover new skills, make lifetime friendships, and connect with inspiring mentors.
As you can imagine, the pandemic has made this year incredibly difficult for Agassiz Village and the families it serves. And while the Coronavirus has halted the operations of many businesses, Agassiz Village has continued to serve AV families through food drives and virtual programming.
The pandemic has increased the need for Agassiz programming and summer camp registrations are arrivimg in record numbers.

Your donation helps kids like 14 year-old Alex from Dorchester, MA. His father is absent for long periods of time. His older brother is in and out of prison. He lives in a neighborhood filled with gangs and drugs, and is often subjected to the pressures of hanging with the wrong crowd. With the help of Agassiz Village, Alex found a home away from home. “At Agassiz, I have both the safety from the streets and the freedom to be me. Agassiz is my safe haven.” Alex will tell you the last two summers he has spent at Agassiz Village have changed his life. "Agassiz has changed how I do things, how I react to different situations, whom I choose as friends, and how I approach life, " said Alex.
$1,500 pays for a child like Alex to go to camp for a 2-week session.
