Why I'm Walking

On June 8th, I’ll be participating in A Walk In Their Shoes—an early morning walk through downtown Charleston to raise awareness and support for Star Gospel Mission. This incredible organization has been helping people facing homelessness and addiction in our city since 1904, and we’re working hard to expand the impact to help raise the vital funds needed for housing and programs for the over 500 children that have been identified as being in some form of homeslessness in Charleston County. When I heard there were children sleeping in cars, storage units, and unsafe houses/hotels, some with no water or electricity--It broke my heart and I knew I had to help!

During the walk, we’ll stop at different stations to hear stories and insights from those on the front lines—people who at one time have been homeless or from those that truly understand the challenges of those who are experiencing addiction and homeslessness.

How You Can Help

1. Give a gift: It goes directly to support our guests at Star Gospel Mission:

$40 provides one day of housing, meals, and support
$280 covers a week
$1,120 covers a full month

2. Walk with me - you can ask a few friends to walk with us too :)
